MINSK, Belarus ? Belarus' Supreme Court has convicted two men of terrorism for carrying out a deadly attack in the capital and ordered them executed.
The April bombings in Minsk's subway system left 15 people dead and hundreds wounded. Investigators say the bombers, explosive enthusiasts Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov, were not members of a terrorist group and were driven by "hatred for humankind," not political motives.
The court ruled Wednesday.
The two men also have been accused of three other nonfatal bombings in 2005 and 2008.
Authoritarian ex-Soviet Belarus is Europe's only nation that still puts people to death, and rights activists claim some 400 people have been executed here since the 1991 Soviet collapse.
