GrowAZ.org is a FREE, early stage business ?marketplace? for ideas, advice, community, resources, jobs, news, mutual support and marketplace awareness for Arizona Entrepreneurs Helping Arizona Entrepreneurs.? As an entrepreneur helping entrepreneurs, I'd like to share their branding story with you:
How did GrowAZ get started and what is the brand about?
As entrepreneurs and members of the community engaged with various associations and universities, we found that it was difficult to find other Arizona startups and small businesses outside of our immediate networks. Further, most of the online resources were either very narrow, national in scope or involved paying for simple networking and community services. We thought that by using open source and social media technologies we could easily provide Arizona's small entrepreneurs with a free place to post ads for the things they need to grow their businesses.?
What is the story behind the logo?
We wanted a logo that makes it obvious at a glance that the organization is focused on Arizona. The overall thought is that small businesses are the backbone of the economy and account for most jobs and a big chunk of Arizona's potential growth, especially given our lack of really large businesses based right here. By branding the website GrowAZ and using the tagline "Entrepreneurs Helping Entrepreneurs" we are striving to make it quickly apparent that we are providing a service for Arizona's entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses and work with each other in the process. After all, when we do business with each other, we keep a lot of money in Arizona. ?
Could you elaborate on the tagline: ?Entrepreneurs Helping Entrepreneurs??
What is the biggest thing an entrepreneur needs?? Other entrepreneurs!? Who else understands what you?re going through better than someone that?s been there?? They want to share advice and provide assistance where they feel it makes a difference.? Experience is the best teacher and entrepreneurs have experience. There?s no denying the tremendous support entrepreneurs provide each other so it's important to keep this network connected across industry verticals and physical location.
What is the best piece of branding advice you can offer an entrepreneur?
Brands are controlled by customers since they are promises of value that form the basis for a relationship of trust. Companies are stewards of brands, striving to mold them daily toward their visions with each action they take and the value they deliver to and through employees, partners, and shareholders. When brands stray too far from their sustainable position (violating their trusted relationship) customers rebel and opt for other choices, sometimes even loudly trashing the brand in their wake.
